The SoScience Story
SoScience was founded by Mélanie Marcel, leader in the field of Responsible Innovation.
Prior to SoScience, Mélanie worked at the forefront of human-machines interfaces at NTT Basic Research Laboratories and at the Brain & Spine Institute (ICM). Through her passion for exploring the intersection of science and global impact, she became a national leader and a recognized expert on Responsible Research and Innovation. Mélanie published her first book on the topic in 2017, she is an Echoing Green Fellow (2017), Ashoka Fellow (2018), won the 2018 Grinnell College Innovator for Social Justice Prize and is one of the youngest expert nominated by the European Commission to evaluate its research policy (2016). Mélanie holds two MS, in Physics and Neurosciences from ESPCI Paris and Paris Descartes University.
SoScience works at the crossroads of our shared values: social impact and scientific excellence. We have initiated the first partnerships between research institutes and social enterprises in Europe, and today remain at the forefront of Responsible Innovation. SoScience comes from a place of passion, rejects the status quo, cultivates a responsible research and innovation network, and ambitiously spearheads major changes in the field. SoScience is a social enterprise: we reinvest all our profits in our social mission.
